A Message from the President

I established Sensus in 1999 as an extension of my education, work experience and upbringing. Growing up in a rural farming community, I have fond memories of working the soil, planting seeds and growing our own food.

As a child, I regularly flipped through the Burpee Seed Catalogue. Every February, my dad and I would carefully select the best seeds for planting in our garden of several acres. Using knowledge and techniques that my dad primarily learned from his dad, the Wampler family spent summers carefully harvesting, canning and freezing fruits and vegetables for the year ahead. My parents dedicated themselves to preserving the quality of our food and to maintaining the fresh flavors of the season. In fact, they convinced my brothers and me that the loss of food quality could be measured in minutes from the time of harvesting. Their efforts, and the experience of fresh flavors regardless of the season, profoundly influenced my future, and continue to guide me in my profession.

As I reflect on my 26-year career following the award of my Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, I know I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to pursue my goal of building a company that manufactures the highest quality natural flavor ingredients in the industry. I am grateful to have the support of outstanding employees, who bring impressive skills, knowledge and ability to every challenge. Together, we apply a technical approach to integrate raw materials into the manufacturing process, thereby ensuring that quality remains at its peak.

We value, and are humbled by, the relationships we have developed with our customers. While we enjoy what we do, it is the partnerships that we have developed with our customers that have given us the greatest fulfillment.
