For over a decade, Sensus has been providing the highest quality flavor essences and concentrates to the Food, Beverage and Flavor Industries. These products have been developed through diligent research efforts, focus on vertical integration, and application of the most advanced process technology with focus on flavor performance in finished products.

Vertical Integration to the Raw Material

Sensus works directly with growers or handlers of their raw materials. These relationships allow for the highest quality raw materials to be chosen. Additionally, a consistent quality from season to season and a stringent guarantee for food safety concerns are ensured.
Vertical integration allows Sensus to research each horticultural product of interest and choose the products with the highest flavor quality, best inherent color, and highest bio-activity. The diligent focus on these three quality attributes allows Sensus to be recognized as the leader in natural extracts and concentrates.
Our research initially focuses on choosing the cultivars that are highest in the organoleptic values. These include: flavor, color, texture and aroma. Additionally, those products highest in the bioactive components are also considered. Final cultivar selection is based on the optimal values of the organoleptic evaluation that meets a particular product development constraint.

State of the Art Manufacturing

At Sensus, we invest heavily in human and manufacturing resources to limit the loss of flavor and bio-active value during processing. We have been successful by greatly minimizing the detrimental effects from traditional extraction and concentration. The process that we have developed is the only one of its kind and focuses completely on minimizing the flavor performance gap. An equation we have used for our entire 10 years is:

Final Quality = Initial Quality - ∑ (all processing losses) + ∑ (all storage and distribution losses) + ∑ (all final product preparation losses)

An illustrative equation that has keenly focused our entire organization on maximizing flavor quality, or minimizing flavor loss, through the manufacturing process. Sensus research and development staff work extremely hard to make their coffee concentrates match fresh roast and ground coffee, their tea concentrates equal to fresh steeped tea, the vegetable and herb essences just like their fresh picked raw counterparts. Through Sensus diligence, an array of outstanding essences and concentrates have been commercialized and offer the product developer flavor development tools that are singular in the beverage and food industries.
